Njeri, a young girl from Familia Moja Children's Home in Mang'u, Kenya, takes shelter from the crisp January morning under a warm Maasai blanke. Family Moja - which means 'One Family' in Kiswahili - was established in 2007 and now cares for 40 chidren, the majority of whom have lost one or both parents to diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria or tuberculosis. Family Moja not only provides the children with food, shelter and education, but it is working towards self-sustainability by growing fruit and vegetables and planning a small bakery and farm. The purchase of this People & Planet card has supported Family Moja's valuable work with girls like Njeri.
