Meet the Artisans From Morocco
Horizon Association for People with Disabilities (Horizon des Handicapes) works with people with disabilities to ensure their health, empowerment and economic success in the Moroccan community.
Known locally as the ‘Association Horizon des handicapés’, Horizon Association’s team of professionally trained engineers provide services to victims of accidents and illness including building and fitting prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, shoes and orthotics, and bikes and motor vehicles. They also provide day services and physical and physiotherapeutic rehabilitation for children with mental and physical disabilities.
In addition, Horizon Association currently employs more than 20 local artisans to create pottery, metal work, jewellery and weaving for a local and export market. Intrepid travellers visit the centre regularly and purchase their beautiful goods from the gift shop. Since their establishment in 1994, Handicapped Horizon has served over 3,000 people.
